‘Comment’ will discuss House special election; ‘KY Tonight’ will focus on coal’s future

Central Kentucky’s special state House election will be a major topic on this weekend’s “Comment on Kentucky,”  a public affairs show of the Kentucky Educational Television network.

Joining host Ferrell Wellman will be Ryan Alessi, senior managing editor and host of Pure Politics on CN|2; Al Cross, director of the Institute for Rural Journalism and Community Issues at the University of Kentucky; and Tom Loftus, Frankfort bureau chief for The Courier-Journal.

The show will air live at 8 p.m. Friday on KET1.

On the Monday, July 1, edition of Kentucky Tonight at 8 p.m. on KET and at, host Bill Goodman and guests will discuss the future of coal and energy.

Scheduled guests are Bill Bissett, president of the Kentucky Coal Association; Elizabeth Crowe, executive director of the Kentucky Environmental Foundation; Paul Thompson, chief operating officer of LG&E and KU Energy; and Stephen Sanders, director of the Appalachian Citizens’ Law Center
