FRANKFORT — A bill that would ban whole classes of synthetic drugs that are being sold as bath salts and potpourri at gas stations and other shops passed the House on Tuesday.

House Bill 481 now goes to the Senate.

Rep. John Tilley, D-Hopkinsville, said the measure expands laws that bans individual substances such as synthetic marijuana. The state’s forfeiture laws also would apply to stores that sell the banned substances. Those caught selling the substances also could lose their liquor licenses.

The bill passed 97-0.
