Gov. Steve Beshear

FRANKFORT — Gov. Steve Beshear will not accompany President Barack Obama on Friday when Obama visits Fort Campbell to greet soldiers who have returned from Afghanistan.

Vice President Joe Biden also is scheduled to make the trip to Kentucky.

“Unfortunately, the president’s visit was not confirmed until late last night – too late to make arrangements in the governor’s schedule, considering his Oaks Day obligations,” said Beshear spokeswoman Kerri Richardson when asked why Beshear will not be with the president, a fellow Democrat.

“However, the governor congratulates the president and the Navy SEALs for their incredible actions this week, and the soldiers and families of Fort Campbell will surely appreciate the president’s visit and gratitude,” she said.

Richardson said Beshear “has visited Fort Campbell several times in the past, and looks forward to visiting Fort Campbell in the future as our soldiers continue to return home.”

Obama, who is not popular in Kentucky, will be making his first visit to Kentucky as president.

Helicopter pilots from the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, which has a battalion at Fort Campbell, supported the SEALS team that killed al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden in Pakistan last Sunday.

    Beshear is a gigantic coward.

To not appear with the President of the United States, during a moment of national pride, in our own state, is disgraceful.

And it’s only because of his fear of offending conservatives.

    A pitiful governor. Very sad.

Beshear knows Obama is poison in Kentucky, and Beshear is running for re-election this year. Obama really should know better than to come to Kentucky during Derby weekend, unless he’s coming to the Derby itself. He could have waited till next week to do this.

It’s an election year. I’d expect no less from the weak mouthed governor. Beshear is the kentucky version of Obama. He’s got to chase foxes and horseys instead if honoring the troops. What a schmuck.

Most Vets have more character than Barry and Gov Chicken Biscuits. The troops do not want to deal with having to meet either one of them. They know exactly how democrats feel about them.Democrats will spit right in the face of a Vet if they know they would not get the holy crap kicked out of them.

Which party dominated and still does dominate the troop hating movement.

The same hippies that spit on our Vietnam Brothers are now running the show.
