By Shawntaye Hopkins –

A campaign volunteer for Republican U.S. Sen.-elect Rand Paul who was caught on videotape stepping on a liberal activist outside a U.S. Senate debate in Kentucky has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge.

Tim Profitt, 53, of Bourbon County appeared before Fayette District Judge David Hayse for his arraignment Thursday afternoon on the fourth-degree assault charge.

A news crew shot footage of Profitt and other supporters of Paul restraining Lauren L. Valle, 23, an activist with the liberal group The confrontation happened outside the debate last month between Paul and his Democratic opponent, Jack Conway.

Profitt told the Herald-Leader that he was concerned that the woman was trying to attack Paul and acted only to subdue her.

A criminal summons says Profitt “intentionally placed his foot on the shoulder/head region on the victim.”

Profitt’s attorney, Michael Dean, reiterated Thursday that his client was trying to protect Paul.
“It was just wanting her to stay down until police could come,” Dean said.

Shortly after video surfaced, Paul’s campaign issued a statement condemning Profitt’s actions — without naming him — and said it had cut ties with him.

Hayse scheduled a preliminary hearing for Dec. 7.

You would think the Conway media would shut up. Conway lost in a very big way! Which is great. Not only did I want Rand to win but I wanted Conway to loose very big.

It has been reported that Conway sent out a plea for more money because he spent more on his campaign than he had and is now in debt. What a liar he is, did he not say he was a fiscally responsible democrat?? Pretty funny stuff. Spend more than you have, typical democrat SOP. Lie and lie to get elected then run the country in the ground. We are so much better with him not in DC.

Well Jack didn’t have daddy’s friends from Texas to pay for his campaign.

As for this moron, I hope he gets exactly what he deserves. He should spend at least six months behind bars with big men stomping his head every night.

I think maybe a $250 fine and probation for six months, after which successfully completed the charge is dismissed, would be appropriate. I highly doubt had this been a presidential candidate that the Secret Service would have allowed that loony woman to try to get in Paul’s vehicle the way she did. Paul asked for the police to help with crowd control and they didn’t. Therefore it was incumbent on his supporters to try to protect him. Tommy, you’re sounding like a sore loser. Had a crazy woman tried to accost Conway, you’d have been for whatever it took to protect your candidate and keep him safe.

  7. Tommy Caudill says:

It’s a woman for God’s sake. This wasn’t some crazy man trying to beat the hell out of out Rand, this was a woman trying to ask Rand some questions and as conservatives like to say exercise her Constitutional rights.

My grandfather always taught me that a man that would hit a woman was a coward and that’s exactly what this guy is.

  8. Buck Feshear says:

Squeaky Fromme was a woman, too.

So now you’re trying tpo compare Move On .Org to the Manson family? Give me a break.

  10. Tommy Caudill says:

You’re really starting to lose your credibility on political matters when you start trying to compare crossroads and to the Manson family.
