Conway considers joining in lawsuit against EPA
Attorney General Jack Conway is weighing whether to join in the lawsuit Gov. Steve Beshear’s administration and the coal industry filed earlier this week against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency over coal mining permits.
“Gov. Beshear and I talked very quickly about it and he went ahead and did it. I will take a look at it to see whether or not I will join in,” Conway said Tuesday when asked about the lawsuit.
Republican Rand Paul, Democrat Conway’s opponent in Kentucky’s U.S. Senate race, said in a news release that he supports the lawsuit. He criticized Conway for not being involved in the suit, which claims the federal agency illegally blocked state-issued mine permits.

I wish they would find coal in Louisville and Lexington and lets see if those city slickers would put up with having poisioned water supplies and boil their water like some have to do in EKY.
It would never happen. I doubt Jack Conway would want his less than a year old daughter drinking arsenic in her water, like many EKY children are exposed to.
This is a moral issue and I am sick of the politics played with this issue.
This is not about jobs because with mountaintop removal mining there are fewer jobs in Eastern Kentucky today than there were 25 years ago, but coal mined. This is strictly a profit issue. I agree with the previous post that says this is a moral issue. Funny how these things never happen in wealthy communities isnt it?
Once again Conway distances himself from Obama to curry favor with Kentucky voters.
julie you just another typical arrogant lying liberal.and jack ole boy its to late for you, democrats are job killers plain and simple.and most people are sick and tired of the same old professional politicians, who tell the people what they want to hear instead of telling the truth.we cannot continue the same old liberal tax and spend policies of socialist democrats.you can’t keep voting for the same old thing and expect a different result.it will not happen.
Hey Rambo,
Your name proves your are not too smart. If you want to drink arsenic in your well water come to Letcher County where in some communities here, people have to bring in bottled water to drink. I am sure you live in Lexington Rambo and are just a wanna be anyway.
Obviously you did not go to school too long by your grammer and sentence structure. Since Rand Paul wants to do away with Pell Grants and federal government loans, I guess you will not continue your education either. Welcome to ignoranceville.
Eastern Ky girl here.
I wish they would add Ben Chandler as a co-defendant.

My mother in-law died of intestinal failure or at least that’s what they called it Central Baptist Hospital. Her intestines had been perforated from sulfur and coal dust she drank from her water in Letcher County.
My wife and I had been married about three months the first time I spent the night with my mother in-law and when I saw heer water I told my wife we have got to get her out of here before this stuff kills her. She said “mommy won’t leave this is all she has and all of her sisters live here. So I asked Flora, why don’t you come live with Pauletta and I; and she politely turned me down. She lived at that house six more years and one day we got a phone call from my wife’s brother, he said, mommy’s sick she’s ARH (Appalachia Regional Hospital) in Hazard.
My wife ran to her side and saw they weren’t doing anyhting to help her, she asked them to move her to Central Baptist but the damage had alreadt been done. Flora Belle Hampton died three days later at the age of 74.
I don’t want anyone’s daughter to go through what my wife went through and I definitely don’t want anyone’s mother fo go through what she went through.

Conway seems to be gaining ground leading up to the mid-term elections.

Repubs,
Do you really believe the healthcare bill is unconstistutional? Insuring 30 million people is unconstistutional? Wow, why doesn’t a judge agree with you?
Since the decision not to purchase health insurance would affect interstate commerce, U.S. District Judge George Steeh ruled, Congress can lawfully require the purchase. “The minimum coverage provision, which addresses economic decisions regarding healthcare services that everyone eventually, and inevitably, will need, is a reasonable means of effectuating Congress’s goal,” Steeh wrote in handing down his decision.

Thank you TC for sharing your personal story about how your Mother in law was poisoned by the water that she drank. This is not an isolated incident it is happening all over Eastern Kentucky and beyond.
For a state that is broke, and already panders to the coal industry joining this law suit is a tragic waste to public resources.
If only the Governor and the Attorney General spent more time worrying about the people of Kentucky and less time Kneeling at the feet of King coal the state would be a better place.
It is very simple follow the clean water act like every other industry in this nation.
Tommy Caudill, if the Republicans hadn’t been running Kentucky for over a hundred years you mother-in-law might still be alive. Republicans have just ruined places like Letcher and Floyd and Pike County. It’s time for Democrats to be given a chance to run Kentucky.
Tommy Caudill and I got together last night and discussed our sexual fantasies about Obama!
I will believe Conway when I see him actually put his money where his mouth is! Otherwise its just more hypocritical and shameless pandering from the Conman campaign.
I see the wingnuts will even make fun of the dead. We see who has the heart in this country.
I really hope my wife doesn’t see that post, she’s hurt enough already.
Tommy,
Instead of proposing to move your mother-in-law, why did her family not chip in to build her a cistern and pay for regular deliveries of city water? My grandmother used to drink a combination of rainwater that ran off her roof, and city water delivered by a big tanker truck, until a water line was run along her road.
It’s a legitimate question.
Her family was too poor to have tat done. If we were as blessed than as we are now we would have it done but at the same time I was going through back surgery and a Chrohn’s Disease. Beleive me we would ahve done anything to save her life or anyone’s life for that matter.
