FRANKFORT – Former Alaska Governor and national conservative leader Sarah Palin will campaign for Republican Rand Paul’s bid for the U.S. Senate Thursday in Louisville.

A news release from the Paul campaign said Palin will appear as a special guest at the Rand Paul Victory Kentucky lunchtime fund-raiser at Louisville’s Crowne Plaza Hotel.

The news release did not provide any details about tickets, and calls and e-mails to the campaign were not returned.

Palin was already scheduled to be in Louisville Thursday to give the keynote speech at the National Quartet Convention in Freedom Hall.

Palin endorsed Paul in last May’s Republican primary election and contributed $2,000 to his campaign. At the time, Palin said she was “proud to support great grass-roots candidates like Dr. Paul.”

She said they differ on some issues, but “he and I are both in agreement that it’s time to shake up the status quo in Washington and stand up for commonsense ideas.”

Palin dubbed herself a “maverick” and Washington outsider when she was Arizona Sen. John McCain’s running mate in the 2008 presidential election.

Paul, a Bowling Green eye surgeon, is the son of U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas and has leveraged support among backers of his father’s unsuccessful 2008 presidential campaign and the Tea Party movement.

He faces Democrat Jack Conway, the state’s attorney general, in the Nov. 2 general election.

“Palin and Paul are two peas in a pod – neither of them understands Kentucky,” said Conway campaign spokesman John Collins. “Kentucky voters have to ask themselves – how can Rand Paul represent us when he has to learn about Kentucky from Sarah Palin?”

LexDeb – our word for the day is ‘bamboozled’. Look it up, and then look in the mirror. Got it now?

Well, if not now, in 20 years, you’ll hopefully be wiser, you’ll look back and see you’ve been had.

In my youth, if I’d met someone like Sarah (and it was a man), I would have thought I’d met a ‘flimflam man’. Watch the movie sometime. Its a great one, and filmed right here in Kentucky.

As as a great addition, rent Dr. Strangelove, and then think about Glenn Beck. Its uncanny.

When is the gutless Barack Obama ever dare to crawl down to Kentucky to face his voters and raise funds for his Democrat stooge ?

” Obama and Conway are two peas in a pod – neither of them understands Kentucky. Kentucky voters have to ask themselves – how can Jack Conway represent us when he has to learn about Kentucky from Barack Obama ?”

We’ve lived 20 out of the last 28 years under republican control, can anyone name one thing they did to improve your daily lives? I mean surely you can come up with one thing they did in 20 years to help you out, can’t you?

  4. Michael Wells says:

Jim, before you call another American stupid, could you please learn to spell the word “crowd”.

  5. Tommy Caudill says:

Wow, with all the republicans talkng about our deficit you would think President Obama was on the biggest spending spree in history, but they’re wrong, our federal deficit is actually dropping and it dropped 8% this year and according to the non-partisan CBO we could see a surplus by 2012. This is a far cry from the way republicans are painting the picture and a far vry from where we were just two years ago under a republican administraton.

    @workinforalivin,

In case you haven’t figured it out by now we are one in the same, but thanks for looking out for my posts.

  8. Tommy Caudill says:

    @haigeonos,

Say what you want about Jack Conway but at least he knows the mountains of Eastern Kentucky aren’t “knolls.” He also knows that going back to the 1950’s is not the way to get our country back to where it needs to be.

I remember not too long ago there was a Republican governor who was under all sorts of politically motivated investigations. There were calls from lots of Democrats for him to resign and save the state a lot of money and trouble, but he served out his term.

I also remember not too long ago there was a Republican governor who was under all sorts of politically motivated investigations. Deciding to save the state a lot of money and trouble, she resigned and the Democrats had a conniption fit.

Double-standard between what Democrats wanted from Ernie Fletcher and what they got from Sarah Palin, anyone?

Rand Paul is doing an amazing job with fundraising. Even if Palin is a controversial figure in American politics, she raises a ton of money. However, I think Paul missed the boat with fundraising a few times this past summer. I have an idea, even though there are many legals obstacles. Check it out and let me know if you think.

“What exactly is it that makes liberal wet their pants and drool in angst every time the name Sarah Palin is uttered?

What is it about a bright, engaging, beautiful, ambitous, successful, conservative, mother that make y’all regurgitate your Prozac?”

What makes us regurgitat is that she is none of the above. She’s all marketing, mixed with the pretty mean girl in high school who acted like she was giving you a compliment by telling you that you’re not as dumb as your teacher thinks you are.

Did you hear the ignorance coming out of her 9/11 speech regarding the Statue of Liberty? Does she even know the politics of France, either in the 19th or the 21st century?

  17. rich says:

My gosh the democrats are some very mean nasty hateful people. So here in my 2 cents. Democrats suck!

  18. UKFAN says:

Tommy Caudill, are you stupid or something? You linked a story that is **THREE YEARS OLD*** on the budget deficit – when Obama wasnt even president. Obama’s deficits are bankrupting the country, hence his party will be poleaxed in November, and Jack Tough Son Of A Bitch will be defeated by 10 – 12 points.

Where is Chandler’s next public appearance, anyone have any idea? He is so terrified of Kentuckians knowing when he will pop out of his hole. Pathetic, he is running a 4-corner campaign, trying to run out the clock with the help of the local liberal media pretending there is no election going on and hoping people dont pay attention to his record.

  19. Tommy Caudill says:

    UKFAN,

If you will notice my second post has the correct link or, are you only literate enough to read the posts you want to find wrong like the rest of the right-wing? Regardless of the link it’s still true his federal budget deficit dropped by 8%. Since his policies are so bad for our country, why is it we’re seeing the turn quicker than any economist expected? Hmmm, guess they’re not that bad afterall, huh?

  20. UKFAN says:

Hey, good luck with that, you & the rest of the lefty dems go to the American People over the next 7 weeks and claim the economy is gaining steam and the federal budget deficit is dropping like a rock. Unfortunately for you those lies won’t be believed by the independent voters. and on November 3rd the GOP will be the majority in the House of Representatives as well as the US Senate – with Rand Paul a member of that majority.

  21. Tommy Caudill says:

If your wish comes true and in two years you’re worse off than you’ve ever been in your life, who are you gonna blame then? Let me guess, President Obama, right? Good luck with that as the republicans shut government down and cost the real taxpayers more than we’ve ever seen, we’ve been down this road before.

  22. Tommy Caudill says:

In a year where dems are supposed to be getting crushed, the gop just dropped advertising for the *Kentucky* senate seat. hmmmm.

  23. dhagy says:

FROG: What you should be concerned about–but neither you or FormerDemocrat are–is the TOTAL IGNORANCE of the moron known as Sarah Palin. Not only is she just plain old stupid, but she REVELS in the fact that she’s stupid. That’s certainly what we need to lead this country. Oh; wait; I forgot. We’ve already HAD that person lead this country…

Wow, the comments are this thread are great. We have leftard and so-called “conservatives” like kygrumpyman calling the Tea Party the “Tealiban”. I like it! It truly displays their asinine idiocy, utter contempt for those on the right who publicly stand up and call out the pure epic fail of the so-called “progressivea”, and their unwillingness to get their heads out of their butts. Plus it is better than once again that tired, old and now cliched insult that encapsulated their homoerotic fantasies.
