Democratic Attorney General Jack Conway raised $1.4 million in contributions for his U.S. Senate campaign in the most recent quarter, topping the $1.1 million his Republican opponent, Rand Paul, took in during the same period.

However, Paul’s campaign manager said that Conway’s $1.4 million total includes $400,000 that Conway loaned his own campaign. That means Paul raised about $100,000 more from donors than Conway, said Jesse Benton, Paul’s campaign manager.

Conway’s spokeswoman, Allison Haley, later confirmed that the $1.4 million fund-raising total included $400,000 in loans from Conway to his campaign.

Conway’s campaign released the fund-raising total Tuesday, but provided no other details about how much money the campaign spent or how much it has available for the general election campaign. Paul has not released those figures, either.

Both campaigns are required to file reports this week with the Federal Election Commission that detail how much money they took in and spent in the April-June quarter. That period included the end of the May 18 primary election and the beginning of the fund-raising push for the November election.

Haley said the quarter was Conway’s best since getting into the race.

Benton said many of Conway’s donations came from “union bosses, trial lawyers and other groups out of sync with Kentucky values,” and that Paul was “proud to have kept pace with small contributions from real grassroots Americans.”

Did sneaky Jack Conway loan himself money like he did against Dr. Dan to best him?

How much of that 1.4 million did Conway loan himself? You shouldn’t report his numbers without asking him that question going on his track record!

  2. bingcherries says:

He might not have to raise much if Rand Paul keeps talking… he seems to lack such knowledge about things.

Conway’s secret fundraising tool? Rand Paul, every time he opens his mouth.

Jack Obama Conway. Is Nancy Pelosi really his mother?

  5. JHB4UK says:

When is anyone in the Kentucky/Lexington/Louisville media going to report on Conway’s swanky fundraising trip to Vancouver with liberal trial lawyers?

    Jack Conway is a Weasel.

What does it matter if he uses his own funds? I am pleased my small contribution is counted in this sum.

Fighting ignorance means fighting Republicans. Rand Paul illustrates that ignorance.

  9. Jack McCock says:

If fighting ignorance means fighting Republicans,(all of them) then having intelligence means expanding the power of government to socialistic proportions. Jack Conway, with his support of Obamacare, Cap and Trade, gun control, and other government power grabs , definitely has socialistic leanings. The true definition of socialism is ” a system of government in which production and/or the means of production is controlled by the State and not individuals. It speaks for itself in regard to Conway, Obama, and the far left liberal agenda.

  10. The General says:

Rand Paul only raised money because he sold out his idiotic followers like Alex Jones and kissed the ring of the Washington elite.

If you like the way that the Obama administration listens (NOT) to you as a constituent (you’re really just a “useful idiot” according to Lenin). if you like Washington to take over the private sector (the bunch that creates real wealth), if you like the idea of distribution of wealth (yours too), and so on, then vote for Jack Conway. He will see that you will be satisfied.

If, however, you treasure the God-given liberties noted in the Declaration of Independence, and the individual rights in the Bill of Rights, then vote for Rand Paul. He will work toward saving them for you.

  12. The General says:

Oh give me a break Kykooky. The private sector has not been taken over. If you think Obama is a socialist then Merkle, Cameron, and Harper (conservative foreign leaders) are communists.

Sure, General keep telling yourself that. Maybe if you imagine hard enough, Obama and the Dumbocrats “progressive” fantasies might actually seem like reality to you, thus completely blinding yourself to reality.

    Big Ben,

Are you peeing on yourself every night because you fear the New World Order is coming to get you.
