Ah, and now we have denise the pseudo-populist with the GOP is the "party of the rich" BS for those who want to believe the party line. Well if that is true denise, then why are most of the wealthy elites such as the Hollywood celebutards, the entertainment industry fat cats, the corporatist businessmen who love the Democrats fascist economic policies, the fat cat union thugs who live high on the hog of the union dues they take for workers they claim to represent, and people like billionaire George Soros who uses his political connections to manipulate markets for his financial benefit at the expense of hard working taxpayers all happen to be Democrats? In fact something like the top 30 richest congressional districts in the US are currently represented by Democrats.

the ignorance on the board is unbelievable. for those of you that support the gop, you need to wake up and smell the coffee. they make fools of you everytime you vote for them. they also lie and twist the info they have to get your vote. this state will stay red until the people who continually vote for mcconnell, bunning, davis, rogers finally realize that they and the gop do NOT represent your best interest-unless you are wealthy.
get the blinders off of your eyes so you can see. even stevie wonder isn's as blind as you are.
here is a link that reveals how badly mcconnell and company stick it to us everytime you vote for them.

now go and have yourselves a happy and then come back and explain how and why you continue to vote for these politicans

Gold backed currency doesn't work in today's age of electronic banking. In fact in today's post-industrial revolution society we have to expand the money supply every year to keep the economy moving according to Milton Friedman. The current system has worked very well since it was set up. Gold backed currency was a cause of the Great Depression, and it wasn't after FDR took us off it did the nation begin to recover. That is why the overwhelming majority of economists oppose the gold standard.

http://www.kwaves.com/fiat.htm
"In a fiat monetary system, the value of money is based on confidence, and once that confidence is gone, money irreversibly becomes worthless, regardless of its scarcity. Gold has replaced every fiat currency for the past 3000 years." The General says that, "We do not have some sort of limit on what we can spend." The fact that there are folks who believe this should scare the heck out of prudent people. If we follow his train of thought we will suffer the fate described on the link at the top of this comment. Buy Gold and Vote Conservative.

Never in history has a fiat currency succeeded for an extended period of time. If our money was backed by gold it would have intrinsic value. It is backed by the full 'faith' and 'credit' of the US government which means it is backed by taxpayers. If you print more money each unit (dollar) is worth less. Too much money in circulation leads to inflation which erodes savings and the standard of living for people on fixed income. If we print our way out of national debt it will result in our ruin as hyperinflation eats our savings as it did the Germans after WWI. You may be The General but you're not a leader.

My comment, of course, was based on the incident when Biden was campaigning and asked a handicapped state official from, I think, Missouri, to stand up. Biden then quickly realized that the guy used a wheelchair and quickly tried to correct himself, saying something on the order of "God love you, everybody stand up for Chuck!"

Greece doesn't issue its own currency. The US does. We are not on a gold standard. We do not have some sort of limit on what we can spend. The money supply contracted during the financial crisis which makes inflation impossible. T-bills have record low yields, and it has never been cheaper to borrow. If Europe would dump the euro then they wouldn't be in this crisis.

The General:

It's that very mindset that has gotten us to this point.

And you can see it's working out really well for Greece.

This puts in pretty simple terms why the national debt (a result of "deficit spending") matters: http://www.bankruptingamerica.org/2010/06/04/in-case-you-missed-it-why-u-s-debt-matters-to-you/

I'm sick of this garbage about deficit spending destroying America. I've that for ages, and it doesn't happen. World War II's deficit spending enriched us
