House panel rejects bill to let independents vote in primaries
FRANKFORT — A House panel rejected a Senate-approved proposal Tuesday to let registered independents vote in the Democratic or Republican Party primary elections.
The House Elections, Constitutional Amendments and Intergovernmental Affairs Committee killed the bill sponsored by Sen. Jimmy Higdon, R-Lebanon, on a 2-4 vote Tuesday, with two members declining to vote.
Several Democrats had expressed concern that the bill might allow independents to influence a party’s primary choice for partisan reasons.
Higdon said the measure was designed to let voters who are locked out of party primaries in counties dominated by one party to have a voice in their local government.

What are you all afraid of, that someone might get elected and you might not get re-elected. I rest my case.

Yep…lets keep everything the way it’s been in the past. We don’t need to have everyone have a voice because if they did it might cost you an election…which means no more profiteering via special interests groups. We really need to re-evaluate the way government runs…
Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:
Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United
States that does not apply equally to the Senators and Representatives.

Don’t worry, I’m voting against all incumbents.
I don’t have a big problem with keeping primaries closed. I’m an independent and both parties disgust me. Otherwise I’d join one.
I do like the idea of voting in primaries, but oh well. We just have to influence through calls, letters, and other ways.
