I think what he is doing is great. Just wish he would stand up for all the bull that congress is dishing out. He needs to go after the corupt tax system and the marriage windfall tax credits if he want to stand up for something. I agree we need to fix the spending but you also have to fix the source of your income . stop discriminating against the %50 of unmarried workers in this country and then maybe you will get somewhere.

    Couldn’t be prouder! GO BUNNING!

  3. KYtruthiness says:

    Couldn’t be prouder….of Jon Stewart.
America laughs at Kentucky once again.
All I can say to those who are behind Bunning on this- you are out-of-touch with the general social and cultural climate of the US; the more you oppose the President and his policies, the further KY will sink into poverty and despair- if you don’t see these things widely prevalent in KY, you must not get out much. Poverty is the root cause of so many of our problems- curbing the # of persons under the poverty line must be our First Priority.

That Jim Bunning, I sware! He shur duz no how ta take a stand! I bet he didn’t use no daggum telyprompter either! No sir! We need to cut ejukashun, welfare, and anything else that ain’t in the daggum konstutooshun! We shoulda elected Saruh Paylun president instead of that daggum communist with no daggum birth sertifucut! God Bless Murrica!

    KYtruthiness writes:
“those who are behind Bunning on this- you are out-of-touch with the general social and cultural climate of the US.”

As one who backs Bunning on this particular issue, let me say “thank you”.

This country is in dire condition BECAUSE OF “the general social and cultural climate.” I can only “hope” that more americans come to their senses and stand opposed to the current “general social and cultural climate”. Otherwise this country will likely not survive.

Our social programs and “entitlements” have brought the U.S. to it’s current condition. More of the same will NOT make this country greater or stronger.

  6. Sam says:

Have any of you who support Bunning ever been out of the holler and seen anything but poverty? Our economy is in a desperate situation left by the Bush administration’s horrendous agendas. Bunning pulling the rug out from under those taxpayers who have lost their jobs is insanity. TeeParteePatreeut, if you can’t spell any better than that you’ll soon be needing those Unemployment Benefits Bunning is withholding. PS: Palin wasn’t running for president. Ignorance is bliss.

  7. Jeff says:

“All I can say to those who are behind Bunning on this- you are out-of-touch with the general social and cultural climate of the US”. And what climate is that? The climate that I can’t do anything for myself let the government support me?

  8. Sally says:

Good grief, Sam, can’t you tell TeeParteePatreeut is using satire to make fun of tea party members?

I think you’re right in your first coments, BTW.

  9. Jon says:

This is an obvious political stunt from a lame-duck senator with no hopes of getting re-elected. He’s punishing roughly 1 million people for his own publicity and nothing else.

And to those who are backing him: you make me ashamed to be a Kentuckian. Where were you when they gave $700 Billion to the banks? Or the $Trillion or so we’ve run up in Iraq?

But $10 billion to help people who’ve been laid off –> NOT fired for cause or for performance, because you can’t get unemployment if you are. These are people who lost their jobs because some company downsized. I guess helping them out is “immoral” while bailing out the banks that caused this mess is “noble”? Go to hell, all of you.

  10. TeeParteePatreeut says:

    Sam-

I have no daggum ideer what all those fancy werds you just used ar supposed tuh mean. But I do no one thang, Saruh Paylun ran fer president. I no cause I voted fer her! Wanna no wy? Cuz she’s purty dang hot, that’s why! She’s hot and she tells me wut I wanna heer! God Bless Murrica!

  11. KYtruthiness says:

    Jeff-
You obviously have no empathy. That’s what I refer to, my friend, when I speak of social and cultural climate. From poor to rich, no-ed to higher-ed, people cannot find jobs- and how can we blame them for their inability when many American blindly allowed jobs to go overseas the last few decades (all for cheaper Wally World Widgets); this legislation Bunning is blocking is putting people out of jobs. WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST THEY DO? BOOTSTRAPS? The gov’t is putting people to work; if the Free Market is so great, why aren’t they putting people to work? Oh, they are…in Singapore and Macau and India and Sri Lanka….

  12. Cris says:

Jobs went over seas during the Clinton administration and will continue because of the demands of the unions. Union leaders meet weekly with Obama and are the writers of health care reform. They are interested because their pensions are BROKE and they want nonmembers to fund their pensions. Who better, huh?
(TeeParteePatreeut was being sarcastic….Ignorance truly is bliss.)

  13. Mike says:

I see from a great deal of the comments here why KY is the b… end of jokes around the country. People here just don’t get it.

  14. George says:

I too think it is another political stunt to raise awareness of how uneducated Kentucky voters are for having people like Bunning and Mitch in the higher government…
Now we know Bunning is to be gone, now maybe we can work on the ‘Ditch Mitch campaign.

  15. George says:

Also I am ashamed to be in this state after he was near to tears telling how he missed a Losing Wildcats game….how unfortunate for this idiot to miss the game. I think a lot of people in this state ‘miss the game’ on a daily basis…If Kentuckians would put 10% of the effort into real issues they do about the ‘Wildcats’ this state might actually become something other than an anecdote for other states [like West Virginia jokes were, now they are Kentucky jokes]. No Shirt, No Shoes, must be in Wal-Mart in Kentucky….or just about anywhere it seems…

  16. Larry K Deeling says:

hey George, Bunning stayed in Wash and the reason they had a voice vote on Friday morning is because most of the other senators went home on Thursday. Do a little reading….

  17. mo_ky_fellow says:

What kind of coverage did anyone expect out of the liberal media????

    …..and so it goes~~

  18. Joe says:

PLEASE. This guy makes the whole state look bad. Senator Bunning, if you truly love Kentucky … resign immediately!

  19. George says:

Hey “Larry K Deeling” maybe I did read and just like all the old men with nothing to do he had to stay there, he was the sacrifice for ‘Mitch’. Just because you are there doesn’t mean it’s the voice of reason or sanity…neither of which has been show in this ‘commonwealth’. A lot of one but not much of the other…

  20. Danzig says:

Jon “Where were you when they gave $700 Billion to the banks?”

Bunning was one of the few who voted against the Banker bailout.

He picked a bad bill to take a stance on but why not pay for this out of the unspent $350 billion stimulus?
