Higdon raises $31,000 for state Senate race

FRANKFORT — Republican Jimmy Higdon has raised more than $31,000 for his state Senate race.
The Lebanon grocer is running in a special election against Democrat Jodie Haydon to replace former state Sen. Dan Kelly who resigned when Gov. Steve Beshear appointed him as a circuit judge.
The election is set for Dec. 8.
Higdon filed a required report with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance on Monday documenting $31,655 in contributions between Oct. 1 and Nov. 6.
Haydon was selected as the Democratic nominee just more than a week ago and hasn’t yet filed a report with the elections agency.
The race is considered key in a push by Beshear to sway the Senate’s balance of power to improve his odds for passing a bill to expand gambling in Kentucky.

Higdon is making a huge showing in the yard-sign campaign, with large placards all across Marion and Taylor Counties. Haydon’s support is barely visible down there.
I look forward to voting for Jodie Haydon. He is a good honest man. Enough said.
