Beshears will be special guests for Webb fund-raiser
FRANKFORT — Gov. Steve Beshear and first lady Jane Beshear will be special guests Friday at a Frankfort fund-raiser for state Rep. Robin Webb’s Democratic campaign for a vacant state Senate seat in northeastern Kentucky. The Beshears are listed on an invitation sent out Wednesday by the Kentucky Democratic Party.
The fundraiser will be from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday at Investors Heritage in downtown Frankfort.
Later that night, all former Democratic governors — Paul Patton, Brereton Jones, Martha Layne Collins, John Y. Brown Jr., Julian Carroll and Wendell Ford – and Democratic members of the state Senate have been invited to attend a fundraiser for Webb in Lexington at Bakers 360, formerly the Lafayette Club, said Webb campaign consultant Dale Emmons.
Webb, a Grayson attorney, is facing Republican Jack Ditty, a Greeunp County dermatologist, in an Aug. 25 special election for the 18th Senate District seat. It was left vacant last month when Republican incumbent Charlie Borders resigned to take a state job with the Public Service Commission.
Some of the sponsors listed for Webb’s Friday fundraiser in Frankfort are state Auditor Crit Luallen, state Sen. and former Gov. Julian Carroll, Labor Secretary J.R. Gray, Franklin Commonwealth’s Attorney Larry Cleveland, former Supreme Court Chief Justice John Palmore and his wife, Carol Palmore, Franklin County Judge-Executive Ted Collins, state Rep. Derrick Graham, Beshear aides Fontaine Banks and Tommy Preston and state Rep. Carl Rollins.

Well, that gives J.R. Gray a couple of days to make it to Frankfort.

Governor Burns is going all in on this one, isn’t he? What will his special election record be if Webb loses this one? Oh well, Charley Borders appreciates the 60 grand a year pension boost, I’m sure.

I don’t know “ditty” squat about Jack Ditty but I am supporting him against the “anointed one” Robin Webb. Anyone that has the current crop of elected officials who have kept Kentucky broke, not created any jobs, and kept us in the basement of every national economic indicator does not deserve our support.
Then we have the past 6 Democratic Governors, who again over 30 years of control have not improved education, or any good indicator of state performance also supporting her. What does that say about her choice of supporters? She has people supporting her who were terrible leaders of this Commonwealth.
The “sponsors” think just because they have controlled state politics since the early 1970′s, us stupid sheep voters will fall into line and vote for Webb. If any person in this state votes for a person who has this large a group of elected officials supporter them, they are not only doing a disservice to themselves but also to their children who will keep paying for the mistakes made over all these years.
With Beshear’s judgment of selecting Mongiardo as his Lt Governor and then immediate putting him out to pasture after the election shows zero loyalty. Then he did a lackluster endorsement of Mongiardo and has failed to offer any strong support for the guy he selected to be his second in command. How can we trust Beshear’s judgment again? Beshear’s non showing of support has shown he can’t be trusted.
But again, the Democratic “establishment” is not supporting their Lt Governor so that means he must not walk lockstep with their failed and failing policies. I am supporting Mongiardo for that reason.
If we voted for a box of rocks, our Commonwealth would hardly be any worse off than we are now.

Too bad Robin let this loser Governor talk her into a losing campaign. My spam word is toast!!! How appropriate.

Depending on what happens in Northern Kentucky . . . should give some indication of Steve Beshear’s re-election potential.
Remember the last time he made a stump in Eastern Kentucky? Worked well , didn’t it.
