Grayson: ‘Some people in college tried pot. I tried Clinton’

August 01, 2009 | | Comments 5

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Trey Grayson used humor at a Republican gathering Friday night in Calvert City as he explained his decision to support Democrat Bill Clinton in the 1992 presidential race.

At the time, Grayson was a Democratic college student. “Some people in college tried pot,” he said. “I tried Clinton.”

Below are some other highlights from the pre-Fancy Farm gathering as reported by Herald-Leader political writer Jack Brammer on Twitter. The political speaking at Fancy Farm – the world’s largest picnic – begins at 3 p.m. Saturday.

  1. Jimmie says:

Nice try Trey. Bill Clinton was well vetted before he was elected.

You claimed you talked to McConnell and Bunning after Bunning stepped down. You and McConnell are the reason Bunning isn’t running. You back stabbed a conservative because you aren’t one.

The moderates had their day in the Republican party. Those days are over. Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, John McCain and the rest can leave the party today. You are the ones that keep trying to appease the far left. Look at what’s happening now….

  2. Jimmie says:

Your little talking points won’t cut it either. Yeah, they are easy ones with the left over reaching.

Stimulus package that tripled the national debt. THAT’S BAD….

Health care plan in which the feds control your health care. THAT’S BAD….

Where were you on illegal immigrants? Where were you on the bank bailouts?

  3. Bill Adkins says:

Trey tried Clinton; Trey tried Bush (all puns intended); and now Trey, with this line, proves he’s Stuck on Stupid.

  4. Timothy says:

Jimmie, Trey has no authority to vote on legislation. His stance on illegal immigration is a great one (and conservative). He is opposed to the bailouts and healthcare. Find some other reasons for attacking him because those are not legit!

  5. Rob says:

He voted for Clinton! That makes him unfit to be a dog catcher! Rand Paul all the way!
