Galbraith runs again for governor; Dea Riley is his running mate

FRANKFORT – Gatewood Galbraith is going to run again for governor.
Galbraith, a Lexington attorney who has run unsuccessfully for governor four times, has filed a slate with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance to run as an independent for governor in 2011.
His running mate is Dea Riley, a political consultant in Frankfort who has managed several campaigns in the state. She formerly was married to state Supreme Court Justice Will T. Scott.
“I believe we can raise over a million dollars and win this race,” Galbraith said Tuesday in a telephone interview.
Galbraith said he was running for governor “to combat Kentucky’s electile dysfunction. Nothing has happened in this state for years and it’s the fault of both major political parties. I want to help the electorate change that.”
Galbraith, 62, has maintained that he has no concerns about being a perennial candidate. “Kentucky has perennial problems,” he said.
Galbraith ran for governor as a Democrat in 1991, 1995 and 2007 and as a Reform Party candidate in 1999. He also has run for agriculture commissioner, U.S. representative and attorney general.
He has been a vocal advocate for legalizing marijuana, but that issue has played a smaller role in his recent campaigns.
Riley, 41, is making her first bid for public office.
“I knew this day was coming,” she said. “When I was first introduced to Gatewood, I was told of his advocacy for legalizing marijuana.
“His advocacy on that has overshadowed his campaigns. I believe I can be of help to him. He’s honest, the best man for the job.”
The current governor, Democrat Steve Beshear, has not yet said if he will seek re-election in 2011.

He’s got my vote I’m glad he is running we need someone in frankfort who can think outside the box come on dem and rep lets get behind this man and give him a chance. He has been at it for a long time lets see what he can do I’m voting for him. I’ve had enough of the the other two parties ideas neither has helped the working people of this state.

Gatewood loves Kentucky, he tells the truth and he understands the changes we have to make. He’s less of a joke than our two Senators. We’d be lucky to get him.
Gatewood is honest as the day is long. He’s exactly what the Commonwealth needs during the hard times that are ahead of us. He can’t be bought and he won’t sell us out and he’s one of smartest men I know.

This should make things interesting. If Gatewood is on point about the numerous good ideas that he has about bettering the Commonwealth and is not bogged down with his stance on relegalizing marijuana, he can win this race. He wants a balanced budget, to bring new jobs back as well as those that were forced to leave back here, and he doesn’t care what party you represent as long as the issue is what is best for the Commonwealth. So far he is the best chance we have!

Bravo, Gatewood. We won’t know how to act with an honest person in government. I know you have Kentucky as your primary interest. I know you cannot be bought. What a refreshing person, away from these lying politicians.

Gate is a good thinker, but to be a good thinker, with worthwhile ideas involves the Legislature. I wonder if Gate would be able to pull that off?

Gatewood/Riley will get my vote. The future has many more suprises and We need to be prepared and I think together this team will help us form a more versatile and economically powerful state. I love KENTUCKY and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else on the planet.
