FRANKFORT – Secretary of State Trey Grayson is scheduling eight additional fundraisers this month in hopes of presenting an impressive campaign finance report next month for his U.S. Senate exploratory committee, says a Frankfort political publication.

The Kentucky Gazette is reporting that Grayson is to hold fundraisers in Lexington, London, Somerset, Louisville, Ft. Mitchell, Madisonville, Hopkinsville and Paducah by June 30.

Mike Scanlon, former vice mayor of Lexington, is to host a fundraiser for Grayson on June 30.

Grayson organized his exploratory committee with the Federal Election Commission on May 6. Campaign finance reports for the second quarter fundraising period are due by July 15.

Grayson is preparing for a possible run in the May 2010 Republican primary election for the U.S. Senate seat now held by Jim Bunning. Grayson has said he is not inclined to run if Bunning stays in the race.

Other Republicans considering the race are Cathy Bailey, former U.S. ambassador to Latvia; and Bowling Green ophthalmologist Rand Paul, son of 2008 presidential candidate Ron Paul.

We need a real leader to STAY here in Kentucky and move us forward!!! Not to get caught up in the Federal BS that usually supports initiatives NOT for Kentucky…
