FRANKFORT — Gov. Steve Beshear’s guests for this year’s Kentucky Derby will include business leaders, family members and a few “close friends” but not President Barack Obama.

Asked about rampant rumors that Obama is coming to the state for the big race on the first Saturday in May, Beshear spokesman Jay Blanton said Beshear did not invite the president to the Derby but is inviting the fellow Democrat to next year’s World Equestrian Games at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

Obama has not been in Kentucky since he was selected as the Democratic nominee in last year’s presidential contest. He lost the state to Republican John McCain.

As for Beshear’s Derby guests this year, Blanton said, “The governor has some family, friends and economic development guests.”

He said the administration does not release the names of economic development guests, “as those are businesses and/or industry we are trying to recruit to Kentucky.”

He added that family members and close friends of Beshear are not public figures and their names will not be released.

HMMMMM….THEN SHOULD EVERYONE THAT’S BEHIND PRESIDENT OBAMA FEEL THEY ARE NOT “INVITED” AS WELL? WHAT IF ALL OBAMA SUPPORTERS SHOWED UP AT THE DERBY WEARING THEIR FAVORITE OBAMA T-SHIRT, BUTTON OR JUST STAY HOME AND THROW THEIR OWN DERBY PARTY? OBAMA FAMILY YOU’RE WELCOMED TO MY DERBY PARTY.

ONE MUST WONDER IF THE PRESIDENT RECEIVED AN INVITE TO THE PREAKNESS AND BELMONT.
KENTUCKY GOVERNMENT IN THE WORDS OF JOHNNY GILL..”MY, MY, MY”. LIL WAYNE CAN YOU WRITE A SONG? PLEASE TITLE IT “I CAN GO ANYWHERE I LIKE CAUSE I’M PRESIDENT OBAMA BABY.”

  2. Wha Now says:

I hope he shows up at your derby, Kathy Snowden-Hill. That way, at least he’ll be able to lie directly to your face instead of through the TV.

Open your eyes, Obama is not the Messiah and he is not the problem in America today. The Government, which Obama is included with, is the problem. Americans were never supposed to pay income tax until the government made it law, and look at us today.

Obama isn’t to blame. Bush isn’t to blame. Reagan isn’t to blame. Carter isn’t to blame. Reid, Dodd, Pelosi, Geithner, Barney Frank, put them and all the other presidents in the same bucket. They’re all guilty of destroying our country, and if you don’t believe that, than you’re exactly the brainwashed kind of silt that this Socialist government wants to have blindly following their orders.

America was founded and created FOR THE PEOPLE, not it’s government. No Taxation Without Representation.

Please locate and learn to turn off your caps lock key.

I love the president, but look at it this way: there have been quite a few derbies, but this will be the first world equestrian games in the U.S., a much better event to invite the president to. I would have held off on the invite for that one, too.

  4. Ron says:

What it funny is this is the gov that you elected. I didn’t vote for him nor the bahma. Serves you right…hope your happy.

  5. Juan McPain says:

President Obama will show up at Churchill and apologize for how horses have been treated there for over one hundred years.

  6. k says:

Those horses, Juan, get treated better than most peoples own children. You dont know what you’re talking about.

  7. Bob Slaughter says:

Well I guess If the Prez. isn’t comming to the Derby that means I can go. He wants to be called a black man but let us not forget that his mother was white and he was raised by a white grandmother while his black father ran off and left him. Sound familar ? He has put us in more debt than all Pres. before him. He want show his birth certifcate and it’s not on file for public record like the law states it surposed to be. Sound like he is hiding somthing. People, wake up, your President is not being truthful to the people who put him in office

  8. KentuckyRose says:

It never ceases to amaze me of how dumb Governor Beshear is. Why would he not invite President Obama? Stupid political move. That’s okay, though. Beshear better live it up as governor for this ONE term. He’ll never win another one. He has been no better than lame-duck Fletcher.

  9. Jim Anderson Stivers says:

    What is the deal here?

Obama has not been in Kentucky since he was selected as the Democratic nominee in last year’s presidential contest. He lost the state to Republican John McCain.

So what! I did not see our confused Governor out in front of the now President during the General Election.

For Blanton to infer: Obama has not been to Kentucky, etc, etc.

Well what the hell Mr. Blanton, I would think there exist no greater opportunity to showcase our PREMIER YEARLY EVENT than the KENTUCKY DERBY. However, the mention that he would be invited, is attending, etc . . . the World Equestrian Event is irrelevant.

This does not showcase Kentucky near as much as inviting the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES TO THE KENTUCKY DERBY.

    HMMMM . . . . why is that?

    Jim Anderson Stivers
    Frankfort, KY.

  10. KentuckyRose says:

Bob Slaughter: Are you that dumb? We had a ten trillion dollar deficit before President Obama ever took office. Where have you been living?

  11. Jim Anderson Stivers says:

Maybe we could find some stimulus money for the Horses . . .would be much better than to cheapen the racetracks with VIDEO TERMINALS, and enslave the lower economic scale.

    UHHHH, SLOT MACHINES.

  12. Jim Anderson Stivers says:

    I got it now.

If the President attends then it would be the honor of the President of The United States to present the WINNERS TROPHY.

A concession I would think the Governor would be pleased to do????

That means, at the DERBY , OUR GOVERNOR WOULD BE PLAYING SECOND FIDDLE.

  13. If I were Pres. Obama, I wouldn’t WANT to come to the derby. This state is bigoted to the point that I am almost ashamed to be from here!
As Mark Twain said, “I want to die in KY. They are at least 20 years behind on everything!”

  14. Jim Anderson Stivers says:

Kentucky Rose, You nailed it. KUDOS.

    JAS

  15. Bob Slaughter says:

Kentucky Rose, for your info, I have been living in Atlanta, Ga for the last 23 yrs. I just moved from there because it has gotten so bad I couldn’t sugject my family to the things that go on. We now live in a place that people don’t shoot & kill just for the fun of it and you can sapeak to your neighbor and they speak back. I could go on & on bit I believe you wouldn’t understand because you probably have never lived outside Ky. And to let you know my wife and I are both college Educated, a daughter who is working on her masters degree, I’ve lived international, so I’m not as dumb as you may think.

  16. ksgard says:

This country has been in the crapper for many many many and uh… many years now. And lets just stop the horse racing shall we? the tobacco industry that kept Ky alive for many years is already almost nil.. so lets just ditch the horses too.. then all we have to worry about it making more whiskey to feed those politicians! cure to economic problems.. give all the ppl over 50 who are ready to retire a million dollars.. stipulate they MUST buy a brand new car.. and pay off their exisiting mortgage … jobs available.. mortgage companies bailed out.. economy on the upswing.. problem solved!

  17. Joseph B. Murphy says:

What is the big deal, I have also not been invited.

  18. Dave says:

    Good thinking Steve!
If Obama had paid to get in to the Derby, then the Government would have taken control over it, like with the banks and GM. However, then the under privileged horses could have participated.

  19. Jim Anderson Stivers says:

Mr. Slaughter, Are u a disappointed Republican or an uninformed Democrat.

The question you raise about the birth certificate has been researched and according to facts . . . President Obama is an American Citizen.

  20. Jim Anderson Stivers says:

Could you please look in the Fortune 500 and tell me who has the amount of stimulus that is required to re generate our economy?

Sure can’t be banks . . . well maybe if they ever pay back the money they have been fronted to stay alive.

Take away, business. Where are the jobs.

For your INFO if the closing of major manufactures like GM and Ford were out of business the unemployment insurance would be astronomical.

If you look at what happened the second Industrial Revolution is going on in third world countries, China as you know the most fortunate.

Who to blame. The GREEDY FORTUNE 500.

So why did we bail them out?

We didn’t have a choice except catastrophic financial failure and very few jobs.

  21. Ima Tewell says:

Beshear shouldn’t bother. Hubby and me invited the Obamas to our Derby party a month ago and haven’t heard a word.

  22. Liz says:

Off and running like a horse mr educator with your spelling

  23. redneck says:

That is great news that bimbo is not coming.

  24. redneck says:

good news that obimbo is not coming to the derby.
