Court of Appeals to hear internet gambling case
The state Court of Appeals on Friday agreed to delay all proceedings in the state’s case to take over online gambling sites. A Franklin Circuit Court judge had issued an order in October upholding the state’s seizure of more than 141 domain names.
Online gambling companies and several other trade groups, including the American Civil Liberties Union, have filed appeals challenging the order. The Court of Appeals agreed to hear all arguments in the case on Dec. 12.
A forefeiture hearing in Franklin Circuit Court will now be delayed until after the Court of Appeals makes a decison. The lawsuit by the state to take over the domains of the gambling sites has generated national and international attention.
