A Bush love fest?
Unlike many Republican Congressional candidates, Geoff Davis continues to wrap himself in all things President Bush. The latest example: Karl Rove will hold two rallies with Davis on Saturday, according to this post on Kentucky Republican Voice.
The President’s low approval ratings shouldn’t concern Davis while campaigning in Northern Kentucky’s conservative 4th District, according to a political analyst quoted in today’s Herald-Leader. "Geoff Davis is in a unique position of being able to bring in some of
these administration officials to help him," said Nathan Gonzales, political editor for the Rothenberg Political Report. "It’s not as much
of a stumbling block for Davis as it is for others."
Both Davis and Democratic opponent Ken Lucas have benefited from having a national spotlight on their race, still considered a tossup by Gonzales. White House Press Secretary Tony Snow was in Northern Kentucky for Davis on Friday. Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Delaware, was campaigning for Lucas and others around the state Saturday.
"I would certainly rather have Cincinnati hometown boy Tony Snow coming rather than liberal Joe Biden coming into the heart of our district," Davis told me last week.
You can find Pat Crowley‘s take on Biden’s visit here. As expected, he hit Republicans hard on the Iraq war.
"We are at a critical time in our nation," Biden said. "Voters have the
opportunity to send a message that they understand President Bush’s
policy in Iraq is failing. We should not settle for trading a dictator
in for chaos."
